Akkoro Kamui (Japanese: アッコロカムイ, Ainu: At-kor-kamuy) is a gigantic octopus-like monster from Ainu folklore which lurks in Uchiura Bay in Hokkaido. It is said that its enormous body can reach sizes 400 feet in length! According to legend, Akkoro Kamui was once a gigantic spider named Yaushikep who lived in the mountains. Yaushikep was turned into a giant octopus by Repun, the god of the sea to become the god of Uchuira Bay, known by the villagers as Akkoro Kamui.
