Pussy Plug 101: What Are Vaginal Plugs & How Do You Use Them?
Do you crave a sense of fullness? Do you like when you can clench your pelvic muscles, squeezing something inside you? When you’re doing sex acts besides vaginal penetration, do you start getting desperate for something to fill you up?
I hope you have a vaginal plug in your sex toy collection!
What Are Vaginal Plugs?
Vaginal plugs (also called pussy plugs) are short toys meant to be worn like butt plugs. They provide a filling sensation you can enjoy as a tease, to wear in preparation for later play, or to pair with masturbation or sex.

Technically, any insertable dildo can be held inside you. But vaginal plugs are shorter than the average dildo and have a less substantial base. This is because the vagina is only about 5–7 inches deep (depending on individual anatomy, state of arousal, etc.) Extra inches and a large flared base would just get in the way of comfortable wear!
Uberrime has several vaginal plug designs. The Uberrime Sensi was our first vaginal plug, and probably the first toy marketed exclusively as such. Its unique shape – barrel-like with a prominent head – provides multiple points of pressure.
The Uberrime Suavis was inspired by artist Jamie McCartney’s Internal Affairs. The Suavis was digitally sculpted to mimic the average vaginal canal. It’s available in 3 different sizes, so whether you’d like a slender toy to start, or a girthy toy to test your limits, the Suavis has the right fit.

How to Wear a Vaginal Plug
For the best experience, make sure you’re fairly aroused before inserting a vag plug. This gives your vagina time to relax and expand before you’re pushing something in.
Apply liberal amounts of long-lasting water-based lube (or oil-based lube) directly to the plug. Make sure to put lube on the base as well. If you plan on moving around, the base will rub against your entrance and labia, and you don’t want to chafe! During longer sessions, make sure to reapply lube to avoid discomfort.
Unlike the anus, the vagina has a definitive end. You can’t “lose” objects in the vagina. (A pussy plug’s external base is just for easy insertion/removal.) You’ll notice that your muscles might want to push vaginal plugs out, especially when you clench. If you’re struggling, you can try sitting with your thighs together, wearing tight underwear or spandex shorts, or straddling a pillow.
Sexy Ideas for Wearing a Pussy Plug
Since vaginal plugs are essentially tucked away, you have a lot more room to multitask than when you’re using a dildo. Here are just a few ways you could enjoy a vaginal plug:
Giving head. Need something to keep you motivated while you go down on a partner? Clenching on the Sensi and appreciating that stretching fullness is one way to stay present and rewarded for your hard work.
Masturbation. Vaginal plugs like the Suavis have smaller bases so you have room to play. You can use a large wand vibrator unencumbered, or take your time tracing your body with something more pinpoint. Plus, since you’re not pistoning a dildo, you have both hands free!
Out in public. Unlike buzzing panty vibes, pussy plugs are completely silent. They are truly discreet! You can clench and squeeze on your plug to maximize the deliciously pervy under-your-clothes, hiding-in-plain-sight pleasure.
Anal sex. Looking to get double stuffed? Wearing a vag plug while being on the receiving end of anal sex provides an incredible sense of fullness. It provides an added sense of pressure for your penetrating partner too.
Doing chores. There are few things less sexually exciting than dusting, doing laundry, or running errands. But you can spice things up by adding the challenge/distraction of a pussy plug. Let your mind wander to sexier things.
Strap-On Sex. Seeking versatile, mutual penetration? Slide on the Joque Strap-On Harness, tuck in a vaginal plug, and enjoy being full together as you strap fuck your partner. If you’re both fantasy-lovers, you can wear a pair: the Fugu Plug and Miksko Dildo.
Exercise. As our friend Phallophile Reviews has pointed out, pussy plugs can add a discreet extra layer of intensity to things like riding a bike. Just make sure to bring the lube with you to avoid chafing!
Receiving head. Smaller plug bases leave a lot of room for your partner(s). They can even tug the base while they’re giving you oral, either to thrust it or change the angle. No more cramping their fingers or bumping their chin into a large dildo base.
